America’s giant tech company Google is going to shut down its cloud gaming service Stadia. The company had announced this in September, now finally this service is going to be discontinued.
The company said that after January 18, 2023, Google Stadia will be discontinued. This service was launched in October 2018 among closed beta version users. It was made available to all by November 2019
Stadia did not get the kind of response from the users that was expected, so the company has decided to discontinue it. Google told that players will have access to the games library and games even after January 18 so that they can play their final play session.
The company will start making larger refunds from mid-January. According to The Verge’s report, the company will start issuing refunds to users who have bought software from the Google Stadia store and hardware from the Google Store.
Regarding those who are working in the Stadia segment of the company, Google said that most of those Stadia team members will be shifted to other segments of the company and they will continue to work.
Team members of Stadia will continue their work in other segments of the company. We consider ourselves lucky for this hard work of the team. We hope to continue to make the same impact on gaming and other industries by using Stadia’s streaming technology.
